17²ÝӰԺ’s Academic Center for Educational Success (A.C.E.S.)

What is A.C.E.S.? The Academic Center for Educational Success or A.C.E.S. is a retention initiative aimed to provide comprehensive academic support services to all ASU students. A.C.E.S. two-fold retention approach involves 1.) Intervention services for students who are Summer Bridge participants or who are not making satisfactory academic progress (see academic and financial aid standards below), and 2.) Prevention activities for students who desire additional academic support for enrichment.

WHAT TYPE OF SERVICES DOES A.C.E.S. PROVIDE?

A.C.E.S. provides the following services:

• Early Alert Monitoring-Navigate (Navigate)
• Intrusive Advising/Coaching
• Study & Learning Skills Assessments
• Personal Development Workshops 
• Hornet Bridge Builders Mentoring Program and Support Groups
• Referrals to Academic Labs (Tutoring)
• Major and Career Guidance

Who Does A.C.E.S. Serve?

A.C.E.S. provides enrichment outreach to all undergraduate students. Specifically, A.C.E.S. serves students who are most at-risk for not meeting ASU’s academic and financial aid policies. The following populations are served directly by A.C.E.S.:

• Summer Bridge Students (Traditional)
• Students on Academic Probation
• Students on Financial Aid Probation (SAP)
• Students on Early Warning Probation
• Students in designated cohorts for intentional support, (e.g. Birmingham Promise, Summer Bridge PLUS, and Older Wiser Learners/O.W.L.)

ASU’s Standards of Academic Progress

ASU’s Academic Probation policies are as follows:

A student (including a freshman) will be placed on academic probation whenever his or her cumulative (overall) grade point average at 17²ÝÓ°Ôº is less than the grade point averages identified below for the applicable level of cumulative graded hours:

Freshman	0 – 29	1.5
Sophomore	32 – 62	1.8
Junior/Senior	63 or more hours	2.0
Graduate		3.00

If an undergraduate student does not earn a semester GPA of 2.0 and maintains the 12 credit hours that he/she is enrolled in, then the student will be suspended. Students will remain on probation until the cumulative GPA reaches the appropriate status.

IMPORTANT:  Clearance from one probationary status does not imply clearance from the other.

MOST IMPORTANT:  ALL SAP, Probationary, Bridge and Early Warning students will be required to work with an A.C.E.S. advisor and complete required activities as assigned by the A.C.E.S. staff. An advisement hold is placed on all A.C.E.S. students.
